its finally back! after months of hiatus this site has grown thick cobwebs and readers have either given up or deleted this site under their favourites after seeing the same.old entry dated back on jul 24 am trying hard to clear the cobweb. hoping to update best.of.me often as before however, life is not the same as before am in the midst of starting the next stage of my life, as a young working adult time when i struggle to blend into or make an impact in the working society time when i think, is this the right one for me? nevertheless strong support of my other half supplements these struggles and makes my life less miserable. 3weeks ict has definitely given me deep thoughts (but of course glad to catch-up with my kilo team-mates :D) more than a year ago best of me was filled with his owner's running enthusiasm and passion it faded and i recorded the worst marathon result at last year's standchart race am hoping to bring back the passion, starting from where i began!! ::: return of best of me ::: Labels: best from me Posted by BEST at 1:45 AM

hello everybody! best.of.me is finally back! apologies for the lack of posts recently due to some transition in my life :p i promise to blog more, if not at least once a month to update the best.of.me to you all. haas been busy job-searching and attending interviews for the past weeks to an extent that i get soo excited each time i goes for my interviews! haas after a week of considerations between both parties, and falling into deep dilemma ive found myself a job! and will be embarking a new phase in my life with PhillipCapital things have yet to firm up but am looking forward to get things started as soon as the next couple of weeks as mentioned previously, i had a short getaway trip to tioman island with the girlfriend and uni peeps last month pardon me for posting about the trip and photos soo late (even photos of my last days in hk are still not uploaded on facebook!) back to tioman trip, more than 6hrs of journey from spore is no joke! it took about close to 5hrs just to reach the jetty before taking a ferry to tioman island left golden mile complex at 630am, making in time for the ferry before it departs at 1130am fell into deep sleep on the ferry as soon as i popped in one tablet of seasick pill (which somehow has an effect of a sleeping pill! haas) upon arriving the island, was greeted with an excellent weather, countless mountain streams, curves of golden sands and clear water (not crystal-clear thou') checked in to paya beach resort which is only 5mins walk to the jetty our room reminds me of east coast chalets but of course, slightly better in terms of its facilities and cleanliness! haas by the time we settled down, it was close to 2pm and all of us were famished from the loong hrs journey! apparently the "recommended" food there is ramly burger which i dont find it fantastic thou :p as the day approaches evening we took a stroll down the beach, wading in the shallow waters overlooking south china sea day 2 awaits us with "must-do" activity in tioman island - snorkelling! with just 70rm (s$35) we got ourselves a private boat (with sailor) to bring us 5 different locations for snorkelling which also comes with the equipments ![]() we love snorkelling! being able to get upclose with clouds of colourful fishes & patches of corals especially with the loved one was a lovely & memorable experience in tioman island ![]() without doubt, tioman is a beautiful yet affordable getaway destination you can consider with your loved ones :) it will take sometime for me to settle down on my job before planning for the next trip :( it wont be easy; hardwork and commitment are vital for the next couple of months or even a year i hope ive made the right choice and the word - regrets will not come into my mind anytime soon cheers.ciaoz Labels: best from me Posted by BEST at 3:24 PM

am re-colouring the 'almost-fading' passion for running with a new pair of shoes - the nike lunarelite+. this is only my 2nd trainer shoe after mizuno waverider 9 which has cushioned my pair of feet for the past 3years. took this trainer to track yesterday evening & it feels comfy without giving much problems aft 8 laps. instead, it was my stamina that gave way :p haas. cant wait to clock more mileage on my lunarelite in coming weeks! took me some time to decide which trainer that is going to conquer the year-end marathon and other races. until 2days ago, decided to drag the girlfriend with me to queensway shopping centre where it offers fantastic deals. selling S$199 across all nike flagship outlets, i gotten the trainer for only S$139!! no doubt queensway shopping ctr offers much better deals for almost the same items available in those nike or adidas outlets in shopping malls. the nike lunarelite+ an ultra-light, ultra-strong Flywire upper provides a snug yet flexible fix responsive cushioning and a low to the ground ride dynamic support can actually tell when a foot needs extra stability and then adjusts accordingly for more info on nike lunarelite+, check out the video below or visit nikerunning. came across an interesting article on the new paper dated back to january 1999, on "why orchard road will never flood" (click here for the full article) "almost never", proclaimed by the ministry of environment. "be'cos orchard road is protected by a mighty drain named the stamford canal". the canal is sooo "good" that it can empty an olympic-sized pool before your cup of latte has time to cool. haas. but this morning, these statements have contradicted... thou' i din witness the floods. facebook.stomp.straitstimes.channelnewsasia have been flooding with the news on the flash floods in orchard road and various parts of central singapore. many wondering now, is spore sinking? is the movie: 2012 a myth or fact? or is it be'cos people have been chucking rubbish into our stamford canal and drains that cause the floods? cheers.ciaoz Labels: best from me, running Posted by BEST at 5:30 PM

it has been some time i last blogged "seriously"! many events happened over the weeks and i doubt i can recall & blog it each and every one. from my previous entry, you may know that ive officially graduated from school. it was a huge disappointment for my final results. hard work and results were negatively correlated. knowing that the time & effort you put in doesnt reflect on the final transcript is simply devastating. ive let down the world of economics - my all-time favourite and forte this semester. over-confidence defeated me and am just too ashamed to say, "my strengths are in economics" sooo confident that i will score at least distinctions for both econs papers even though i din do well for my tests. but it turned out to be worst than i thought. i scored only credits (which is a damn f***ing 'C' grade!) for the modules. argh. am soo affected by the grades that i dont feel glad about the rest of my papers which scores slightly better than i thought. some of us might think that having good grades is not everything. YES - but to a certain extent as these good grades may give you a competitive edge over others. these grades differentiate you between a first-class degree or a third-class degree holder. thou' my degree has no honours, it works the same way as all of us wanna graduate with 'flying colours'. nevertheless, on a happy note, i can finally declare the highest qualification in an application form is - degree graduate. haas. ever since i came back from hong kong nearly a month ago, ive sent no more than 5 resumes and receive no more than zero replies. and i'll need to get worried if i remain jobless for the next one month. with bank loans, holiday trips and shopping sprees tormenting me, am desperate for a job now! haas. am back to 'no-more-than-5km' slow jogs around my estate after nursing an infected toe couple of weeks ago. no choice but to drop out from the 10km passion run 3weeks ago. it was my first "nonparticipating" passion run since its inception in 2007. despite missing out this race, took time out to give support for my besties whom i'll be running alongside at the year-end marathon. ![]() passion run and sundown marathon 2010 are two major races i missed out this year. with the economy showing signs of improvements while my finances showing otherwise, i doubt i'll be attempting as many races as before as they are reckon to be inflated (like nobody business!) 6 months have passed and if no other races is installed for the next 3-4 months, standard chartered marathon singapore 2010 will be my first and final race for 2010!! and it will record as the least no. of races since 2007!! this year's standchart marathon will different from the previous years as it will be my first participation in full-marathon distance. before the commencement of the trainings, am sooo in need of a motivator to keep my pair of feet cushioned. haas. with less than 12 hours to go... world cup fever for the next 4weeks! woohoo.. despite all the complains against the 'green' & 'red' firms and even to the extent of boycotting the firms... ive signed up the world cup package with the 'green' firm anyway!! haas Labels: best from me Posted by BEST at 10:31 AM

买东西, 吃东西, 买东西, 吃东西 high-rise buildings. steep slopes. neon lights. land of wanton noodles & dim sum 5days 4nights hong kong-shenzhen trip last week was awesome with great sight-seeing, shopping, food and companionship arrived before noon and check-in newton place hotel which is about 10mins walk to 牛頭角 mtr station. similar to spore and taipei, railway system in hong kong is easily accessible 旺角 & 油麻地 are the famous areas we went on our first day where numerous shopping malls, ladies market and temple street night market are located ![]() what comes to your mind immediately if you are in hong kong for breakfast? ![]() none other than dim sum! our first dim sum breaky was settled near our hotel and it blew me away completely its siew mai, shrimp cheong fun, congee and many more are simply mouth-watering that we overeat almost every morning. haas visited ocean park after breakfast on day two. if i remember correctly, i attempted only two rides from the summit rides as compared the rest of my frens whom "conquered" at least three given my phobia for heights, am actually quite proud of myself taking on the cable car, ferries wheel and the swing. haas. "unfortunately" am jus too afraid to attempt the roller coaster where the rest challenge it without fear!! *cheers to them. shame shame to me* haas ![]() nonetheless my most rewarding moments in ocean park gotta be... ... the dolphin & sea lion show!! haas. it was my first encounter with dolphins and they amazed me with their intelligence and "stunts" with human beings due to time constraint, we missed out the giant pandas enclosure from the other section of ocean park. but still had a fabulous day in the themed park thou' din attempt most of the rides :p head down to tsim sha tsui for dinner (which din impress my taste buds) before taking a stroll down the avenue of stars (星光大道) and enjoying the astonishing night scene along the waterfront unfortunately we missed the "symphony of lights" which happens 8pm every night ![]() third day was spent at shenzhen - a shopping paradise for all ![]() not much in shenzhen but shopping is a heaven. with just s$150 it can satisfy me with tops.shoes.watch.bag. only regret is i din get to buy the remote control helicopter toy which costs only 90rmb (s$18). argh! by the time we reached the hotel, it was close to 1am and we were dead tired but with smiles as we head to bed. haas. we head down to central and mid-levels escalators the following day where we visited sun yat-sen museum before making our way up to the victoria peak. that's where we visited madame tussuads and get upclose with celebrities and famous leaders (in wax). haas ![]() view from the peak is stunning if weather is clear. however, it rained and the vision is very misty as we made our way out from madame tussauds. luckily i took a quick shot before the rain. ![]() our last evening in hk was spent in causeway bay and back to mong kok's ladies market for more shopping. the only "perk" in causeway bay was taking a ride on the "ding ding", the world's oldest double-decked tramways in operation ![]() shopping in causeway bay burns a big hole in our pockets becos of the "atas" shopping malls around the district and that's where we decided to head back to the ladies market in mong kok for more deals and bargains. haas. that wrapped up our time in hk as we took an early flight back home the next day :( hong kong is one country i would like to return in the future (prob for its summer sale!). as for now, planning for next trip gonna be... ... japan? wooo ![]() thank you yvonne, kenny, alicia & aggie for the companionship :) Labels: best from me Posted by BEST at 10:20 PM
