army half marathon...

completed my 2nd half-marathon in 2hrs 23mins (based on clock timing) early this morning. disappointingly timing was way beyond my personal best of 2hrs 10mins recorded from my inaugural half-marathon last year. well. looking at a brighter side. ive not been well-trained prior to this race due to work commitments & 'laziness'. and coming in before 2-and-half hrs would say is a "not-bad-achievement". *self-consolation* haas.

the first 10km was good. keeping at an average 6min/km pace. which brings us through the east coast park. as soon as i hit the 12km mark. i could feel the 'blistery sensation' on my right feet. this is the first time i had a blister during a race. argh! thought i could "withstand" the pain and finish the race without having to stop! however the pain was unbearable and eventually it forced me to walk through the uneven terrain en route from ecp to the marina barrage.

aft crossing the marina barrage. walk-jog a couple of times towards the finishing line. besides the blistery pain. i could feel cramps came taunting me which forced me to slow down my pace even more.

watch shows 2hrs at the 18km mark & i knew my performance will not be as good as before. this is life. when one changes its lifestyle/environment. one has to make some sacrifices. running at least 30-40km a week.workout in the gym.swimming are in past tense now. pounding the pavement now is as hard as not pounding the pavement in the past.

is my poor self-discipline or being unable to adapt the fast-paced society to blame?

am running slowly towards my goal...
